This way if you actually wanted to start when there were actually three kingdoms, you could do that. The developers' announcement said that the team had wrapped up the story intended to be told in Total War: Three Kingdoms, and that further parts of the historic story would be told in separate games under the Three Kingdoms banner, with the next installment already in development. Honestly, I hope the first DLC just expands the starting scenarios - so you can start in a period later than the Yellow Turban Rebellion. No need to create new options for them, just have them pick from available options. The roleplaying of this ruler would essentially be up to the player though.Īnd I think that would be okay with most people who would bother to play a custom ruler. There weren't any special items or cutscenes with these officers, but depending on the RTK game (each one handled skills/traits a little differently), you either hand-picked your traits, or you picked a specialization and the game would pick your traits semi-randomly. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy games by Koei all had officer creation too. Would love to hear all of your thoughts on the idea, and whatever you feel, I hope that 3 Kingdoms is a joy to play. This could essentially provide endless possibilities for custom campaigns, and ALSO it doesn't clash with other Lords being released as DLC either. Once that is all taken care of, we start the game! The character would work just like any other critical lord in the game, forming his own relationships with the other lords and so on! A DLC like this is perfect for this setting, and with how many character mechanics have been put into this title I think it's ripe for it. You can still write whatever secondary name you wish.įinally, you can select their starting location from any of the non-primary starting locations (you can't kick Kong Rong out of his starting home for instance), maybe even give us the option to start without a starting city, like Liu Bei starts out. This would be from a pool of options so that the flags can have designs. Next you would choose your faction colors (basically how it worked in Shogun 2) and then choose a Sirname to be added to your character, since the banners in 3K all have names on them. Then you have an amount of "perk points" for clarity's sake, which you use to do any of the following:Ĭhoose a spear faction unit from a pool of optionsĬhoose a special building chain from a pool of optionsĬhoose from a pool of ancillaries to start out with (horses, weapons, etc)Ĭhoose a more subtle option, such as getting an extra supporting commander at startĬhoose your supporting commanders (these could also be created, but not as in depth. it can simply be chosen from a pool of the ones that exist in the game). You create your own custom "special" commander, choosing their class, traits, ambitions, and their special skill (like legitimacy/authority/etc. Here's a rundown of how I feel it would work (roughly). All traits that Total War 3 Kingdoms shares, except for the character creation. It's essentially the same game, but it includes custom character creation, empire management, Diplomacy, espionage, and expansion, light RPG elements, and character interactivity. Essentially instead of picking one of the legendary lords as a campaign, we design our own character - from armor and class to special units and start position - and carve our own path through China to become emperor.ĭynasty Warriors has a sub-game genre called Empires. With the focus on characters being so high in 3 kingdoms, and them being pivotal to anything you do in the game, I feel that a DLC that acts as an Avatar Conquest mode for it's map would be ideal. Custom lord, custom colors, custom insignia, custom special units, etc. TL DR: Basically let us have Avatar Conquest from Shogun 2 on the main campaign map in 3 Kingdoms. Below follows my idea of the DLC and various ways of making it work. I brought this idea up some time ago, but with the release of the game creeping up faster on the horizon, I thought I would try getting some discussion going on the matter once more.
